Meta wrote to the government on Wednesday outlining the specifics of enhanced and rigorous safeguards it has now implemented for content posted by the Prime Minister and other prominent accounts, according to sources.
Meta has informed the IT Ministry that posts by the Prime Minister and prominent accounts will have additional oversight on the platform and that multiple checks will take place at levels of senior company officials, sources said, citing the social media firm's communication to the ministry.
Meta team is likely to meet government officials later this week or early next week over the Prime Minister's Facebook post issue, sources added.

Bangladesh is "reviewing" Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation to his counterpart Tarique Rahman to visit India, a senior minister said here on Wednesday.
Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman made the comments when asked about India's invitation to PM Tarique Rahman to attend the upcoming 18th BRICS Summit in Delhi.
"We are currently reviewing it (invitation)," Rahman told reporters after High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi paid a courtesy call on him five weeks after his arrival as the Indian envoy here.
In a post on X, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka said the envoy "reaffirmed India's commitment to a positive, constructive and forward-looking partnership with Bangladesh, rooted in mutual interest and mutual benefit, and to deepening people-centric cooperation across all sectors."

An indefinite curfew continued in several parts of Nepal's India-bordering Sunsari district in the Koshi province for a fourth day on Thursday, following communal violence that left one person dead and several injured.
The security situation in the district is gradually improving, said Assistant Chief District Officer, Sunsari, Poshan Lamichhane.
The district administration has extended the curfew, first imposed on Monday, to ten areas, including the East-West Highway, to control the situation. It will remain in force until further notice.
Under the curfew, the movement of people, gathering, demonstration, public meeting and sit-in are strictly prohibited. Security has been stepped up in various sensitive areas and government offices.
